SLB's Digital Marketplace brings ~200 AI tools from 30+ vendors to energy operators, compressing deployment from months to days

The pitch is simple: one platform, 200 tools, no procurement nightmare. SLB launched its Digital Marketplace on June 15, 2026, offering energy companies a curated library of AI agents, domain models, and workflow extensions drawn from SLB itself and more than 30 partner vendors.

Agentic AI sits at the heart of it. Unlike earlier rule-based automation, agentic systems can plan, reason, and execute across complex, multi-step workflows with minimal human supervision. CEO Olivier Le Peuch made the ambition clear: "AI in energy is shifting from promise to performance. The SLB Digital Marketplace is designed to accelerate that shift by creating an open ecosystem where innovation can scale."

Coverage spans the full value chain, from exploration and drilling through production and carbon management. That breadth matters. For years, energy companies have struggled to close the gap between AI's theoretical promise and what actually runs in the field. Pre-integrated tools that engineering teams can prototype and deploy in days, rather than months, directly attack that problem.

Vendors gain something equally valuable: distribution. Specialized AI developers who previously lacked a path to global energy operators now have one. With more than 30 partners already aboard at launch, the platform enters the market with real depth rather than a thin pilot roster, and that number is almost certain to grow.

Positioning around agentic architectures is a deliberate bet. SLB is signaling where it expects competitive advantage to concentrate in upstream and low-carbon energy over the next several years. Whether the marketplace becomes the industry's default deployment layer depends on how quickly adoption scales, and how many operators decide that building their own procurement pipelines is no longer worth the cost.
